Ugh! I'd been going to homedistiller.org for a week or so now and started
building a pot still. Mainly for making rum. The problem is.... halfway
through making the still, I can no longer get on the website or the forums!

Here's what I've got so far. I picked up an 18qt pressure cooker at a flea
market. Per suggestions on homedistiller, I drilled out the center hole
where the pressure gage would have been attached. Then using a black pipe 1"
flange and some stainless steel bolts I can now connect a 1" copper pipe.
(Using a thread to copper adapter that is..)

Now, I do have 24" of 1" copper pipe that I'll cut down, but I need to
decide which type of condesnser to make. I'm kinda leaning towards "pipe
pass-through", where I'd use a small lenght of 2" copper and drill out the
end caps so I could pass a half inch pipe though the center.

Forgot to mention, I do have a 1" to 1/2" tee. One end of the 1" to the pot,
the other side so I can mount a thermometer. The third side, the 1/2 side,
would lead over to the condensor. I hope this all makes sence. Kinda hard to
describe w/o pictures...

I just know some one's gonna say, 'why not just make a coil?' From what I've
read aren't pipe inside pipe (water jacket) better condensors then a coil?

So, besides that, can I or should I reduce the 1/2 pipe to 1/4 pipe before
or after passing through the water jacket? And how long should I make the
jacket? I know I haven't mentioned how long the column is coming off the
pot, but as I understand with pot stills it doesn't really matter? So I was
going to adapt that my stove/counter arangement once I've got all the parts
together.

Any and all help will be apperciated!
